January 15, 2015, Highwood, IL – Chicago-area marketing and design agency Street Level Studio (SLS) has been acquired by Tanya Fretheim. She purchased the business from cofounders Joe and Wendy Davis, who are leaving SLS after nearly 30 years. Fretheim’s purchase makes the agency a 100 percent woman-owned business.
“Tanya has been part of the SLS team for 17 years, starting as a graphic designer before getting promoted to project manager and then account services director,” Joe Davis says. “During this time, she came to understand all aspects of the business from design and administrative to leadership and client relations. It’s this complete understanding that gave us confidence in this transition. She has both the creative and business savvy to provide exactly what clients need.”
Fretheim—whose experience prior to joining the North Shore agency includes many design and management roles—says she’s excited to add to the company’s services. “I’m honored Joe and Wendy trust me with the business,” she says. “I’m excited about this new chapter in my career and the opportunities it presents to Street Level Studio.
